Cristiano Ronaldo has met his new Juventus teammates for the first time and underwent checks at the Club's medical centre.
Ronaldo, who signed for Juventus in a £105m deal, arrived in Turin on Sunday after his extended post-World Cup break. He greeted his new team-mates including Gonzalo Higuain and Paulo Dybala, whose places he has put under threat. Ronaldo was pictured with both strikers despite the speculation around their futures following his arrival. The Portuguese was also strapped up to machines to check his condition before the start of the new campaign. And he was snapped wearing an oxygen mask while running on a treadmill and was hooked up to monitors. |
President Muhammadu Buhari has announced the cancellation of May 29 as the country’s annual Democracy Day. Instead, the President said the annual celebration will now hold on June 12, arguing that June 12, 1993 — the date of the election popularly adjudged to be the freest and fairest in Nigeria’s history — “was far more symbolic of democracy in the Nigerian context than May 29 or even October 1”. Buhari also announced that MKO Abiola, winner of the annulled election, will be posthumously awarded the highest honour in the land, GCFR. More to follow…
