Neymar and Real Madrid are as close to a happy ending as they've been in 12 years








Real Madrid invited Neymar to train with them back in 2006, with the Brazilian working out with their youth teams and even watching a first-team match from the directors' box of the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.
In the end he didn't sign with Los Blancos, returning to Santos and then eventually joining Barcelona, but 12 years on the capital city club feel like they're close to finally getting their man.
Since moving from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain last summer, the Brazilian has made a number of positive gestures towards past, present and future Real Madrid players, such as Ronaldo Nazario, Marcelo, Cristiano Ronaldo, Sergio Ramos and Vinicius Junior.
The reason for this has been to generate a positive atmosphere with respect to the possibility of making the dream of 12 years ago a reality.
Real Madrid directors believe his arrival would be welcomed by the fanbase and by the dressing room, with Ronaldo keen to have the forward alongside him, aware that the Brazilian's presence would take some of the attacking burden off his own shoulders.
While the directors are aware that Ronaldo has to stay for now, they also know that Neymar is the only one who can ultimately replace him when the time comes
